iWitness in Singapore: Saturday
27 September 08
The statisticians at AT&T Williams were hard at work after this evening’s qualifying session. They concluded that this is the first time since Monaco in 2006, when Mark Webber lined up second and Nico eighth, that both of our cars have qualified inside the top 10. Attaboys!
The drivers can rest easy tonight, safe in the knowledge that none of them will be going to jail after tomorrow’s race. Dropping litter is a criminal offence in Singapore and a special law has been passed to allow the drivers to discard their tear-off visor strips during the race. Phew!
Honda third driver (and former AT&T Williams racer) Alex Wurz has taken on a new role in Singapore this weekend. He drove the Medical Car in today’s practice and qualifying sessions when the car’s regular driver, Jacques Tropenat, became ill. He will drive the car again in tomorrow’s race; we only hope the FIA isn’t going to rely on his medical skills as well…
