Footie-mad Nico Rosberg was back in action for the F1 Allstars team in Budapest on Wednesday evening. Playing in the midfield, alongside team captain Michael Schumacher, Nico’s team drew 6-6 against a Hungarian all-stars team. The other drivers on the F1 team were Giancarlo Fisichella, Sebastian Vettel and former Minardi star Zsolt Baumgartner.
It’s been a gruelling couple of weeks since the German Grand Prix for Williams F1’s PR guru Silvia Hoffer. First she organised a 50th birthday party for husband Stefano (50 years: 50 guests) and then a seventh birthday party for daughter Veronica (7 years: 34 guests). Next week it’s Silvia’s birthday, so no pressure Stefano…
What was more surprising: that Michael Schumacher was driving a Fiat Ducato van or that he had a car accident en route to the airport after attending the historic meeting at Silverstone last weekend? Both elements of the story have been verified by Michael’s spokeswoman and while anybody can have the occasional prang, a seven-time World Champion in a Fiat van? You couldn’t make it up!
Gerhard Berger drove one of his own cars for the first time yesterday. The 10-time Grand Prix winner and co-owner of Toro Rosso did a couple of demonstration runs in the holiday resort of Lake Balaton. “It was an emotional moment,” he said.
