Kazuki's Montreal Blog: Thursday
06 June 08
New York was just amazing. I’d never been there prior to my visit at the end of last week and I wasn’t disappointed: it’s big, it’s busy and it’s beautiful.
I was there with my girlfriend, my trainer Nick and his wife, and we kept ourselves really busy throughout our stay. We saw all the touristy bits – the Empire States Building, the Statue of Liberty, Grand Central Station – as well as some of the more thought-provoking places like Ground Zero. I’ve wanted to visit the site of the Twin Towers since 9/11 2001 and it was quite emotional.
Other stuff? We saw a performance of the Lion King, took in a New York Mets versus LA Dodgers baseball game (the Mets have a couple of famous Japanese pitchers) and ate in a brilliant Japanese restaurant called Megu. A good time was had by all.
Now though, it’s back to the serious business. I arrived in Montreal on Tuesday evening, since when I’ve been training and walking the track prior to tomorrow’s opening practice sessions. AT&T Williams traditionally goes well at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, so let’s hope to keep the tradition alive this weekend!
