Kazuki's Monaco Blog: Friday
23 May 08
The rest day in Monaco is a bit of a misnomer (my word of the day, one of my marketing friends taught me it!) because there’s nothing “restful” about it. This morning I had a meeting with my engineers, during which we looked at data from yesterday’s running and made a plan for the remainder of the weekend, and I had quite a bit of PR to do this afternoon.
I’ve attached some photos: one of me doing an interview with a journalist from the Asahi Shimbun, one of the biggest national papers in Japan, and then there are is one of me doing an interview with Fuji TV. Fuji are the host broadcasters of Formula One in Japan and we did this interview live. We filmed it on a really cool walkway overlooking the Yacht Club so had the harbour in the background, which looked really good. By the time I’d finished the interview, quite a crowd had gathered so it took a while to get back to the motorhome as everyone wanted to take my picture or get an autograph. At least they knew who I was this time, in the past, people have shouted “Taku” at me!
This is me doing the Asahi Shimbin interview in the motorhome.
And here I am doing the live inteview for Fuji. Ukyo Katayama (who used to drive in F1) is on the right and sometimes presents for them.
I had a little time out in my hotel room at lunchtime, which was nice because I had a bit of a late one last night. We had the AT&T Williams team party on the Stad Amsterdam clipper and I was there until quite late, expecting today to be the rest day people talk about!
Early night tonight, I think....
