iWitness in Turkey on Friday

Adam Parr, AT&T Williams’s CEO, went aboard the Indian Empress on Friday evening for a party hosted by Force India owner Vijay Mallya. The 90-metre gin palace was moored on the Bosphorus, where the water was a bit choppy, but it wasn’t the rocking motion of the boat that made Adam feel nauseous; it was the glaring red socks that guests had to wear. At least they weren’t tartan…
There isn’t a flat section of asphalt at Istanbul Park; its undulating terrain is a real test of car and driver – and Claire Williams. Yes, AT&T Williams’s PR guru completed a lap of the 5.34km (3.32-mile) track in 28 minutes this evening. She was last seen necking a pint of beer, having read in a girlie mag that it was the best form of recovery.
Kemble Airfield in the UK is an ex-military base, which is why it originally caught the attention of AT&T Williams’s aviation-mad boss, Frank Williams. But when Frank heard that it had five runways, he thought about its potential as a testing facility and his team now tests there regularly. Test driver Nico Hulkenberg was there for a filming day last week, so watch out for the footage on attwilliams.com in the coming weeks.
Talking of up-and-coming German drivers, iWitness couldn’t help noticing a story in the German press last week about Michael Schumacher’s son Mick. In an attempt at anonymity, “Quick Mick” is entering kart races under the pseudonym ‘Mika Krauthausen’. No, we can’t explain it either!
