We love being in Australia, but the coppers can be a bit OTT. As Kazuki Nakajima and his physio Nick Harris left the track on Saturday night, they were pulled over for overtaking a parked car. No wonder there are so few good Aussie racing drivers…

How come, iWitness wondered over a glass of Barossa last night, the grass in the Albert Park paddock is so green when the weather’s been so dry? And then it happened: an army of painters walked by clutching green paint. Yep, they paint the grass here in Oz - we could be in Hollywood.

When Kimi Raikkonen left the paddock after qualifying, he agreed to sign autographs for the awaiting throng. For five minutes he diligently signed in complete silence, until a guy piped up: “Kimi, when are you going to get a personality, you bastard?” At which point the signing session ended.

After receiving regular drubbings on the tennis court from team-mate Heikki Kovalainen, Australian GP polesitter Lewis Hamilton is going to seek extra tuition. Only this will be tuition with a difference: Roger Federer, whom Lewis met at the Laureus Awards last month, is going to help him. Isn’t that taking things a bit far?
