HAM receives a 20 second penalty which promotes Logan to P10 and Alex to P13. Some reasons to be positive ahead of the afternoon!

And that's that. P11 for Logan after MAG's penalty, P14 for Alex. Some important learnings for the rest of the weekend.

TSU in P8 leads a long DRS train. There could be an opportunity for a point here for Logan!

MAG has received a 10 second penalty – so in all likelihood, P9 will be enough for a point today...

Alex gets BOT into Turn 1. He's up to P15.

And we are in sequence. The field is very tight. Anything could happen!

We're looking strong in the final sector. Logan has gone purple in S3. Can he get some moves done?

Lap 4/19.

Logan makes a great start, and he's up to P13. Alex is P16 after his start from the pit lane, and we get a chance to breathe as the safety car is brought out due to an incident involving NOR in the first corner.

Here we go...

...except TSU and Logan! They start on softs. Can that alternative strategy yield any results?

"We will start Alex from pitlane to change some set-up items on the car ahead of the Sprint. On reviewing the car post session we found discrepancies with the set-up and balance and so we needed to make adjustments. We will therefore improve our package for the remainder of the weekend."

It's the first of two races this weekend and there is loads to play for!

It'll be P19 and P20 for our boys tomorrow, depending on any penalties from further up the field. A lot still to fight for!

Alex's time takes him up to P16 - but it's swiftly deleted because of that run wide at 15. He will start the Sprint from P20 tomorrow.

Alex goes deep at the 14/15 chicane. So unlucky, the lap was looking good!

The boys both need to find some time here!

First push laps are in the bank. Both drivers go below 1:30 but there's still time to be found.

The local hero heads out on to track, and he is swiftly followed by Albono.

A reminder that medium tyres must be used in SQ1 and SQ2, before the soft compound in SQ3. What can our drivers do?

It's back to the grid, a few burnouts and practice starts, and then into the pits. The practice is over, and competitive action begins in earnest in just a few hours' time.

Alex's final sector time is among the best on the grid. Definitely something to work with as we head into Sprint Qualifying later today.

Alex follows Logan up the timing board with a 1:29.540 to jump into P4 on the softs. Some promising signs with less than 10 minutes remaining...

Our hometown hero jumps into the top ten on the medium tyres with a 1:30.151.

And he's got the soft tyres on. Let's see how he fares!

Both drivers into double digits for laps on the hard tyres. Getting some valuable data with less than 30 minutes to go.

Both drivers set their opening times of the weekend but there's plenty still to come.

The track is clear and both drivers head straight out, both on the hard tyres. Just over 40 minutes remaining.

LEC's car is stricken and the stewards have elected to pause the session. Valuable seconds ticking away here...

"Back off, back off" Gaetan tells Logan. LEC has spun and is blocking the track at 16.

Logan is our first man out for Miami GP weekend. He's on the hards.

It is, of course, a sprint weekend, and FP1 will be the only opportunity to get the setup as close to perfect as possible.
